It’s with a heavy heart that I share with you our precious beagle Ray went to Heaven on Monday, April 17, 2017. I prayed over this and was lead when to let him go back home. It’s taken me a little while to write this post up and share it.
Ray was a special doggie, with special circumstances. You never know what is in store for you. But I am always open and trust in the Lord with all my heart.
This is not a sad story, it’s a remarkable one, that I hope you will read.
We were so blessed to have Ray come into our lives about 20 months ago as a deaf senior beagle with neurological issues and Alzheimer’s disease.
When we first found out about this special doggie, it was only 4 months after losing Sammy and then Billy 45 days later (our beagles) which was devastating. They had just had wellness visits and where in perfect health, so it was a total shock. So as you can imagine, we were not looking or ready for another doggie. But God had other plans.
A friend had asked me if we were going to get another doggie. I had so many people asking me this and I was so worn out I said, ‘If someone calls telling us they have a deaf, blind, senior dog’ we will. But until then, we need a break.
And then it happened….
I called back that night letting Debbie know we would take him, site unseen! But we would like to meet him.
We met him on August 9, 2015. He was in his own little world because he was deaf and we don’t know how long he was in the streets. He was found in Colts Neck.
First picture of Steve and Ray just meeting.
Ray helped Steve and I get through our grieving just by being Silly Ray. We thought he was just silly until we realized it was something more. But that was ok. We fell in love with him and we were his protectors who would love him until the end.
Have a wonderful day!
