Today I’m sharing something a little different; a “Behind the Scenes” look at Clever Cuts, Fancy Folds and Delightful Digitals. When you receive the card kits, they’re all nice and comfy in their own envelopes, but there’s a lot of chaos creativity going on before they reach you.
Here’s our electronic cutting machine, or e-cutter. We use the Silhouette Cameo, though there are many other e-cutters in the market. One of the card kits is being cut as we snapped this picture:
We communicate with the e-cutter from the computer. You can see the Silhouette design screen on the desktop. A laptop is hard at work as well, printing out other pieces of the project. There are wires everywhere!
When individual pieces are printed &/or cut, they are placed in individual containers (drawers) to sort later. This works well for us because we can quickly place the drawer back in its rack to free up work space. Here is each of the projects before sorting.
Once the cutting is done, we sort and pack the individual card components to in their envelopes. Here’s what that looks like as we follow the progress of one card. This is also the time when we curse quietly under our breath for not sorting as we were cutting.
Take a look at this piece of card stock after it has been cut…no waste here! Can you imagine cutting all these pieces by hand?
These projects make quite the mess. Here’s a picture of the scrap remaining after the preparation for just one class. For those of you who take the Clever Cuts class, you may be able to identify the skeletons of some of the cards you’ve made. What pieces miss the containers ends up on the floor…all over the floor!
Here is a picture of the blades that have gone to the “dead blade cemetery” since the inception of Clever Cuts.
Now that you’ve seen the hard work that goes into these classes… wait until you see the classes we’ve offered!
Thanks for stopping by!
