Recently my husband, his two brothers (Chris & Scott) & sister (Cathy) threw their parents a Surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary Party. I was honored to make all the Invitations, Thank you’s, Favors, Place Cards & Table Decor. I was told, it seemed that I did everything but Cook (THANK GOD) and grow the Flowers… (HA!) It was alot of fun!
You couldn’t have any better in-laws then I do. Terri & Spanky are so supportive, caring, loving & FAIR with all their children and NEVER tire from doing, doing & doing for their children, even though their oldest will be 50, and their youngest is 39.
I was SO very happy to do something for THEM!!! I took this project on knowing just how important a roll it was. To announce & celebrate 50 years of marriage with them! I vowed to myself I would do my very best and blow away all their guests with a beautiful creative day!
Kathy (my sister-in-law) & myself received the RSVP calls while my husband & his brothers took care of booking just the perfect place for this wonderful celebration.
It was held at The Lake Club in Staten Island, New York, which is part of Clove Lake Park, a beautiful place to visit for any occasion & great for outdoor Wedding pictures.
Steve & his siblings grow up in Staten Island, just a bridge (Varrazzano) away from where I grow up in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Having attended St. John’s Academy in Staten Island, and doing lots of fun things in Staten Island, I was excited they picked Clove Lake. My sister & I used to ice skate, horse back ride and have picnics there with our parents. So this place has very fond memories for me too.
This is the invitation card. I embossed everything in Gold. The colors used were White Shimmery Cardstock & Gold Cardstock. The stamp set used was Baroque Motifs. Accessories used were Clear Rhinestones & ticket corner punch.
I printed out Terri & Spanky’s wedding photo on our Vellum cardstock and placed it over the invitation inside and placed the directions to the Club on top.
(YES… the back of the envelope is embossed too! EVERYTHING was!) I made 85-90 of everything!
I love the Ticket Corner punch for a beautiful accent to show off more of the Gold Cardstock. I purchased the Gold Bells from Oriental Trading Company.
These candles were so easy to decorate. I layered the tag using the small & large Oval punches. Our glue dots worked wonders to keep the bows perfect. (Wink)
Chris gave me a poem for the CD topper and Scott copied ‘Old but Goodies Music. I purchased clear CD holders so I could match the front cover with the candy bar wrapper design, as well as the Thank you Cards, which I addressed and put stamps on the envelopes. All Terri had to do is write a little note inside, seal & mail them:)
Below are the thank you cards, simple but pretty:) I made over 100 of these!
This was an extra extra surprise from Steve & Me 🙂
What is SO funny, is I told Terri at the party, I had totally forgot to make a CARD for them!!! LOL Can you believe that!! Well, I had a few other things on my mind for the party…. tee hee
So she said, it’s okay, the card can be late, but I have to have one so I can save it with the rest of the things you made! I’m sure it will match beautifully!!! SO now the PRESSURE was on, she was looking forward to a 50th Anniversary Card!! Ha ha ha, was that so cute!! What a beautiful compliment, I thought! She wanted it so she could ‘save’ it… tee hee
Terri couldn’t stop telling me thank you and tell me how many compliments she got at the party on all the handmade items. I just grinned from ear to ear, THRILLED I had accomplished what I had set out to do, which was to make my contribution on this party Spectacular and Memorable! It was well worth the time and effort I put into it. It was fun every minute of the process!
This is the Anniversary Card I made. Below is the inside of it, where I wrote something. The ‘Designed By’ was on the back of the card, and YES it was EMBOSSED! 🙂
My next post will be of the Scrapbook I made for them:)
See ya soon!
